11 Puppies Found In Charmin Box

By Deborah Durbin, Marketing Coordinator

Shelby County Animal Shelter had a surprise yesterday morning. Eleven puppies, about 6 weeks old, were found in a Charmin bath tissue box outside their facility (in this case, we are so glad they squeezed the Charmin!). Since Shelby County Animal Shelter did not have the resources to care for the eleven puppies, they called SICSA’s Kennel Manager to see if we would be able to accept the puppies into our program. SICSA partners with many Ohio animal shelters who cannot accommodate all the pets they receive.

The puppies arrived at SICSA yesterday afternoon with much fan fair, as you can see from the video.

We believe the puppies are Pit Bull/Labrador/Boxer blends. The puppies were examined by Dr. Roth, SICSA’s veterinarian. They received microchips and their first set of vaccines, receiving a clean bill of health. Then it was off to six foster homes. The puppies will be spayed or neutered and given their 2nd set of vaccines and preventative medicines before they are adopted. The large brood will be up for adoption when they are at least 8 weeks old.

Not only do we have this litter of 11 puppies, but a litter of 5 puppies arrived on Tuesday this week too. We have two single puppies being fostered and another litter of 5 puppies have been in a foster home for 2 weeks. Altogether, we have 23 puppies in foster homes! That is a lot of puppies.

We must thank all of our foster families! We actually know how much poop a 2 pound puppy can make. A lot! We also want to thank our donors, because without your support and generosity we could not accept this many puppies into our adoption program.

If you would like to become a member, now is a great time! If you would like to find out more about our foster program, now is also a great time! If you would like to see sneak peeks of pets that are arriving and also great photos of available pets, follow us on Instagram! We will keep you updated about all the puppies in the coming weeks.
